Karl-Peter Hadeler

K. P. H. obtained his Ph. D in mathematics from the University of Hamburg in 1965 and the Habilitation in 1967. In these years he worked on problems in applied mathematics, operator theory, inverse eigenvalue problems and matrix theory. He was a visiting associate professor at the University of Minesota and an associate professor at the Technical School of the University of Erlangen.

In 1971 K. P. H. moved to the University of Tübingen, started the Biomathematics group there (Lehrstuhl für Biomathematik) and became a co-founder of the journal of Mathematical Biology. In Tübingen he worked on various problems in mathematical biology such as modelling spatial spread by transport equations, travelling fronts, control of infectious diseases.

He retired in 2005 and worked 2005-2010 as research professor at the School of Mathematical and Statistical Scienes of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. In 2010 he has been John von Neumann Visiting Professor at the Technical University of Munich.
