About Us:

The foundation of the graduate college "Infectional Biology" established a new scientific focus at the University of Tuebingen in April 2001. All group leaders are members of the staff at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine. Working not only with human pathogens but also with plant pathogens is the specificity of our graduate college. The main target is to detect similarities and differences of the particular infection types. A better understanding of the different infectional mechanisms and fitness factors is one of the fundamentals for developing new therapeutic agents. The subjects cover:

 

• Interaction between the pathogen and human beings and plants Characterization of virulence- and adhesion factors
  Invasion of the host cell
  Components of the bacterial cell wall, cell wall specific antibiotics

 

• Host defense reaction

The topics are up-to-date and offer an ideal conditions for further higher education. We provide a well-balanced program for our fellows, which contains compulsory and facultative lectures, seminars, and excursions offering them a wide spectrum of methods.

Our graduate college affords an opportunity for talented graduate students from outside to use the attractive offer of professional education at the University of Tuebingen.
