Surface protein targeting in staphylococci
Surface proteins of Staphylococcus aureus play an important
role during staphylococcal infection. Surface proteins are targeted
and covalently anchored to the baterial cell wall via N-terminal secretion
signal and C-terminal sorting signal. Currently we are trying to understand
the process of surface proteins incorporation and distribution
to staphylococcal cell envelop by genetic and microscopic studies.
