Friends of the Earth - Amazon Programme, Brazil
Since 1989, Friends of the Earth - Amazonia Program, legally incorporated in Brazil as Amigos da Terra -
Programa Amazonia (FOE-AP), is a non-for-profit organisation under the Brazilian law. FOE-AP has played a
leading role among NGOs with regard to public policy development for the Brazilian Amazon. This has been
accomplished through policy and economic analyses, publications, advocacy, campaigns and media work, as well as
collaboration with government agencies. FOE-AP has also a long experience in fieldwork, including large projects
in the area of community development and forest fire prevention.
The research studies conducted by Friends of the Earth - Amazonia Program have provided effective instruments for decision-makers and its public policy contributions have won significant recognition.
