Sustainable Amazonia SUSAM Network
portugues

One of the most important aspects of the project is the consolidation and expansion of a multilateral and interdisciplinary network, which is to consist not only of academic institutions, but also of non-governmental organisations from Brazil, Bolivia and the EU.

As all the participants have a long experience in research, politics or planning on the Amazon region. The planned network is to permanently strengthen the already existing European-Latin American research network. In this way important synergy effects can be attained with a special emphasis on their usability in practice.

The two workshops, which will be carried out within the scope of the SUSAM-project, will make it possible for the project partners to exchange their research results and practical experiences concerning relevant problems in the Amazon region and, with regard to the regional level of application, to make them available via joint publications. In this way, the concentration of different professional and regional competencies, the exchange of intercultural and interdisciplinary experiences and the discussion about conception and realisation of regionally adapted land use systems and strategies of rural and urban development can be guaranteed.
