The university's research community includes a number of collaborative research centers, Transregio collaborative research centers and research units supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The university also trains young researchers through postgraduate colleges of the DFG as well as in interdisciplinary PhD networks organized by the University of Tübingen. The PhD networks are concentrated within the newly founded Graduate Academy of the University of Tübingen.
