What is Rhetoric?

  1. The practice of strategic communication aimed at effective persuasion: in everyday life, in politics, in business, in science.

  2. The theorie of strategic communication, which dates back to ancient Greece and, together with philosophy, represents the oldest systematic theory in European intellectual history.

  3. Science of strategic communication, which is taught at the University of Tübingen at a separate institute with an inter- and transdisciplinary orientation.

June 24, 2026, 18:00–20:00, Brechtbau, Room 027, University of Tübingen

Once a year, the Institute of Rhetoric invites former students who now hold exciting and responsible positions. They will talk about their career paths, offer insights into their day-to-day work, and share experiences and tips on studying and building a career. You will also learn about the career paths open to you after studying rhetoric, how to successfully transition into the professional world, and what steps you can take right now to set yourself on the right track. This year, the following rhetoric alumni will be our guests:

  • Isa Fünfhausen, M.A.: Leiterin Open Academy des Science Cube (Zentrum für Wissenschaftskommunikation)
  • Dr. Julia Gassner: Stellvertretende Verbandsdirektorin des Volkshochschulverbands Baden-Württemberg
  • Maximilian Koch-Erpach, B.A.: Junior Producer für fiktionale Inhalte bei Just Make It Productions
  • Sara Livadas, B.A.: Stellvertretende Pressesprecherin der CSU Bayern und Stadtratskandidatin für München

Afterward, we invite you to join us for refreshments. Take this opportunity to chat with graduates and fellow students, share experiences, network, and gain new inspiration for your future academic and professional paths.
The event is sponsored by Rhetorikforum e.V. Therefore, participation is free of charge and does not require registration.
