Research Profile of the Section Astronomy

The research comprises both the area "UV and Optical Astronomy" (working group Prof. Klaus Werner) working on "experimental UV astronomy" and "quantitative spectral analysis of stellar spectra", and the area "Experimental High Energy Astrophysics" (working group Prof. Andrea Santangelo) working on "X-Ray and Gamma Astronomy" and "Ultra High Energy Astrophysics".

Infrastructure

In addition to the scientific working groups we also have an electronics workshop with large experience in building space qualified electronics and a mechanical workshop with corresponding experience in building scientific instruments.
