The research is focused on the econometric analysis of sports demand (current project funded by DFG/SNF: labour market effects of sports related public expenditures). Furthermore, the department team conducts research related to sports labour economics, the development of sport organizations, the marketing of media and commercial rights as well as various issues related to (social media) communication in sports. During recent years, several research projects were conducted on behalf of international sports organizations such as Major League Soccer (MLS) and supported with research grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG), UEFA, and FIFA. Major findings were published in internationally leading field journals (publications) and discussed in the media (media coverage).
