Computer Science (Bachelor's program)
Target group
The Computer Science Bachelor’s program is designed for students interested in information processing who are pursuing a professional career or a research career in information technology. A basic knowledge of mathematics as well as logical and abstract thinking skills are essential.
Program contents
The Computer Science Bachelor’s program provides the students with a basic understanding of general, applied, and theoretical computer science, computer engineering, and mathematics. In an elective major module, e.g. Business Administration, Medicine or Physics, the students will learn to apply their knowledge. In addition, students will be able to acquire soft skills along with professional skills.
The modular Computer Science Bachelor’s program covers three years, each year starting in the winter semester (usually in October). The study courses of the first four semesters are fixed. In the subsequent semesters, students may select advanced courses (compulsory elective modules) according to interest.
The courses are taught through a balanced mixture of lectures, exercises, seminars and practical courses.
Program goals and objectives
The Computer Science Bachelor’s program aims to provide the students with the theoretical and methodological basics of computer science, enabling them to either extend their knowledge and specialize in a Master’s program later on, or to enter on a career.
Career opportunities and prospects
Information technology plays an important role in almost every area of economy and public life, allowing graduates in computer science to enter into careers in a variety of occupational fields, such as commerce, banking and insurance, software development and software consulting or communications providers.
Career prospects for graduates in computer science holding a Bachelor’s degree are very good.
