Inter-Faculty Institute of Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT)

The Interfaculty Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT) was founded in 2009, merging the Institute for Microbiology (Faculty of Science) and the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hygiene (Faculty of Medicine). In addition, the newly established Chair for Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Immunology (University Children’s Hospital) was integrated in the new interfaculty institute. IMIT is the first institute of its kind in Germany and comprises six professorships and several junior research groups.

IMIT has six departments whose heads make up its board of directors.
