Prof. Dr. Gunter Schubert
Gunter Schubert (born in 1963) was appointed professor in October 2003. He heads the newly founded Chair of Greater China Studies covering political, social, economic and cultural developments in contemporary Greater China – a concept which comprises the PRC, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Singapore as territorial units and also the overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and in the non-Asian world. Prof. Schubert is also the founder and director of the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) at Tuebingen University.
His research focuses on issues related to cross-strait relations and integration, local governance refrom in the PRC, East Asian regionalism and nationalism in China and Taiwan. Recent book publications (see also list of publications) include:
