Semester ticket: Getting around by bus and train

Local public transport is quite expensive. A valid certificate of enrollment, which Student Administration (“Studentensekretariat”) supplies you with, entitles you to a student ticket (“Semester ticket”) at a reduced price.

Halls of residence

As soon as you have received a letter of acceptance of University of Tübingen you can apply for a room in one of the halls of residences at the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim via the online application form. As there usually are many more applications than rooms available please do so as soon as possible.

The Studierendenwerk e.V. also rents out rooms in student dormitories (information in German only).

Short-term stays

If you only need accommodation for a number of nights or until your room in student accommodation is available, the Youth Hostel Tübingen may be able to help. Do keep in mind that duration of stay is severely restricted.

Private housing

The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim arranges contacts with locals renting out rooms (private room accommodation service).
