Centers, Institutes and Interdisciplinary Research Institutions
Cluster Of Excellence: The Werner Reichardt Center for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN)
The Werner Reichardt Center for Integrative Neuroscience is a cluster of excellence sponsored by the Excellence Initiative of the federal government and the 16 German states. Integrative neuroscience focuses on the study of how the complex interaction of nerve cells creates a broad spectrum of brain functions. The center consists of six working groups, and operates in cooperation with the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research and a number of other partners.

The Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience
Tübingen’s Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (theoretical neuroscience) was founded in 2010, and is funded by the federal Ministry of Education and Research. The center's staff includes scientists from the University and the Tübingen University hospitals, the CIN and HIH, as well as the Tübingen Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. The center is part of the nationwide Bernstein "Computational Neuroscience" network. Researchers at the Tübingen center study the brain’s ability to combine sensory data and prior knowledge to perceive its environment.

The Interfaculty Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Research (IZEPHA)
The IZEPHA is a facility affiliated with the University’s Faculty of Medicine, the schools of Chemistry & Pharmaceutics, the University Clinic, the Robert Bosch Foundation of Stuttgart and the Robert Bosch Hospital of Stuttgart. The ICPPR's primary task is to develop combined research and training in the fields of pharmaceutical science, pharmacology and clinical pharmacology.
International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW)
The center was founded in in 1990 for the purpose of conducting interdisciplinary research on issues involving ethics in the sciences and humanities. It also promotes the training of young researchers, the adaptation of ethics research to an education environment, and the coordination of regional and international research networks.
