• Fee

The fee of 800 EURO covers costs in Erice including full board and lodging from dinner on September 16th to breakfast on September 24th. Drinks and beverages, after-dinner coffee, telephone calls, personal laundry, etc. are not covered by the fee.

The fee of 800 EURO (if you are not an EPS or Erice fellow or a lecturer) should be paid (also by participants who have a DFG fellowship)

at least THREE WEEKS IN ADVANCE to be sure that the payment is in Erice at the start of the School. The Centre will charge you 800 Euro in cash in Erice if your transfer has not arrived in time. Bring the bank confirmation of your payment with you.

When the payment is made, you have to indicate "ISNP-2007-your_name" (e.g. "ISNP-2007-Smith"; ISNP="International School of Nuclear Physics") as the purpose of the transfer.

NO CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED IN ERICE FOR PAYING THE FEE!

PAYMENT IN CASH is possible in Erice BUT IT IS ADVISED TO USE BANK TRANSFER at least three weeks in advance. To pay in cash in Erice has turned out to be time consuming since only one person, who is not regularly present, can give a receipt. It is often so that it is extremely hard to get a receipt, especially for those, who do not pay at the beginning of the school (in some cases when participants payed during the last days it took months to get a receipt via mail).

An evidence of the payment must be provided at the registration time in Erice. The bank statement should also be used for refunding your travel expenses at home. The centre has always difficulties to prepare a receipt before you leave.
 
 

Time of arrival and accommodation

The Centro ``Ettore Majorana'' is responsible for all organizational details in Erice (apart from the scientific program). Operations in Erice are in the hands of Mrs. Fiorella Ruggiu whom you should contact for any specific local need.

Please, inform the Centro ``Ettore Majorana'' about the exact time  of your arrival at Palermo Airport on Sept. 16, 2007 and the flight number. Please, try to arrive before 15:00,  so that the Centro ``Ettore Majorana'' can arrange your transport from the airport to Erice (100 km) with arrival in Erice before 5 p.m.

The Centro Ettore Majorana neither confirms faxes nor reads e-mails, so, please, do not ask for it.

You also have to indicate if you bring your family member(s) with you. Each family member has to pay the same fee of 800 Euro for food and lodging.

Registration and room allocation is upon your arrival on September 16th at the secretariat of the School ("San Rocco", Via Guarnotta 26, Erice) not later than 5 p.m. Please, do not try to make reservations directly in hotels in Erice. Participants will be accommodated in rooms with one or two beds, the majority with shower or bath. Priority in the room allocation, as far as comfort is concerned, will be based on age.

You must, as already mentioned above, inform the Center about the flight number and the time of your arrival on Sept. 16 at Palermo Airport. If you do not inform the Center about the time of your arrival, you will not be picked up on September 16. The transportation on Sept. 24 to the airport will be organized during your stay in Erice. You can catch the planes departing after 7 a.m. on Sept. 24. Transportation on other days is in your own responsibility.

If, by any chance, you do not find yourself on the list of participants and you want to participate or if the title of your talk in the enclosed program is not correct, you should contact, preferentially by e-mail,

Scientific program

The lectures and seminars will be given in three blocks: September 17th and in the morning on 18th;  September 19 and September 21-23. The afternoon of September 18th and the full day of September 20th are free days on which excursions will be arranged (on 18th to the beach in San Vito Lo Capo for swimming and on 20th to a monastery and cathedrals in Monreale and Palermo as well as to the Palazzo dei Normani).

There will be lectures and seminars each day in the morning and in the afternoon so as to leave plenty of time for free discussions that is an important part of the Erice system. The early afternoons are for private activities, special seminars, working groups, workshops, etc. 

In addition to the lectures and seminars contained in the program we have in three afternoons workshops organized by the lecturers. If you want to speak in one of the workshops, you should contact one of the lecturers listed there. Each participant can speak only once. The addresses are in the list of participants. Usually, four speakers can speak in each workshop. Workshop talks are 15 minutes each plus 5 minutes for discussions.

A computer with a beamer are provided in the lecture hall. So it is enough if you bring to Erice your talk on a memory stick as a PPT or PDF file. Naturally, it is also possible to connect your personal laptop with the beamer. In any case you should prepare the presentation of your talk with Alberto (who is the person responsible for the presentations in the lecture hall) during the break before your talk.
 
 

Proceedings

The proceedings of the School will be published as volume 61, issue 1 of ``Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics'' (by Elsevier). The manuscripts have to be prepared as a LaTeX file with EPS figures inserted according to the template file style.tex (please, download and use it). The PS or PDF file of the contribution along with LaTeX source file and EPS figures should be sent to erice2007@uni-tuebingen.de till November 20th, 2007.

Several personal computers are available for using your e-mail at the Centro Ettore Majorana. It is often difficult to use pay phones. If you must rely on phone calls, it is better to have a mobile phone with a contract which allows you to phone in Italy. American mobile phones do not normally work in Europe unless you have a rather special one and the corresponding contract.
