Hitherto, research on the financing of national capitals was scarce. Neither the scholarship on federalism nor the political branches in consulting have issued systematic publications. A study has compared the capitals Berlin, Vienna, Berne, Rome, Madrid, London, Paris, Brussels, Moscow and Washington D.C. This article reviews the financing of the capital-functions of Berlin and presents some of the results of the above-mentioned study.
