Die Autonomisierung Spaniens  ein abgeschlossener Prozess?

My article updates the contributions on Spain published in earlier numbers of the Jahrbuch. The point of departure is to understand the problem of the territorial organization of Spain as a question of nationalism(s). The current Spanish government considers the question of autonomy to be settled. In the name of a so-called constitutional patriotism, the decentralization process has been stopped. The federalization of Spain, which has sometimes been claimed by the opposition parties, has been rejected. These political positions are described and contrasted in this article. At the same time, some scholars defend alternative models of cooperative or asymmetrical federalism. This article highlights the positions of Eliseo Aja and Ferran Requejo. But the current political constellation and the difficulties to reform the Constitution and the Statutes of Autonomy make the realization of those propositions unlikely.
