In this article, we analyze one specific aspect of Argentine federalism: international relations. In particular, we explore the different actions developed by Provinces in the international scenery. Firstly, we review the international competences granted to the Provinces by the National Constitution. Secondly, we study the international activities of Argentine Provinces in the areas of foreign trade, international finance, trans-border infrastructure, management and use of natural resources and international cooperation. Thirdly, we analyze the relevance of regional integration in the proliferation of constituent government ties beyond Argentina's borders. Particularly, we focus on the formation of inter-provincial regions (i.e. regions formed by Argentine Provinces) and the creation of macro-regions (i.e. regions formed by Argentine Provinces and other constituent governments of neighboring countries).
