1. About the AKIH

The Arbeitskreis interdisziplinaere Hexenforschung (AKIH) - which may be called Workshop for Interdisciplinary Witchcraft Research - is an informal, international and interdisciplinary circle of scholars and laypersons, who are interested in scholarly discussions of

• the history of witchcraft trials (especially in Early Modern Europe)

• the belief in magic and witches both past and present.

 

The AKIH is organised by

• Dr. h.c. Dieter R. Bauer (Dept. of History, Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, Germany) and

• Prof. Dr. Soenke Lorenz (Faculty of Philosophy and History, Dept. of History, University of Tuebingen, Germany).

 

Activities include annual workshops and occasionally larger conferences in Stuttgart and Weingarten (both in Germany).

Books are published in the series "Hexenforschung" (Verlag fuer Regionalgeschichte, Bielefeld), edited by

• Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Behringer (Humanities I, Dept. of History, Saarland University, Germany)

Although the main language of the AKIH is German, contributions in English and French are also welcome.
