A complete and well-prepared application is a prerequisite for your possible admission to the program. We will only consider applications including all required supplemental documents and reach the office by 31 May 2017. Please note that your own institution may require an earlier submission. All documents have to be submitted in English.


The following steps described below will help you to successfully apply for the program.


1. Download the application form

Download the application form here. Please carefully read the application form as well as the cancellation policy and fill in the fields correctly.


2. Print, sign and scan your application form

After you have filled in the application form, please print it, sign it, scan it and save the document as a PDF file. If you do not have the possibility to scan the form, you can also send your application via post to us.


3. Add all required documents

Please add the following required documents to your application (all documents have to be submitted in English):


  • Letter of motivation (600 words):
    • Why would you like to participate in the short-term program "International & European Studies" at the University of Tübingen?
    • What is your special interest in Europe, the European Union and Germany?
    • How do you think you will benefit from the program on an academic, professional and personal level?

  • Transcript of records: Official, certified transcript showing courses and grades from the university you are currently enrolled.
  • Short CV


In case you already have an official proof of your proficiency level in English, please add it to your application (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, attendance of language courses).


4. Send your application

5. Next Steps

You will be informed by email about your acceptance or rejection within four weeks after your application. The programm fee has to be paid by the applicant right after the acceptance to the program. As soon as we have received the program fee we will send you a letter of confirmation as well as a letter of invitation for your visa application.


Please note: Participants in the IES Program will not be enrolled as students of the University of Tübingen.




If you do need to withdraw from the Fall Program, the following cancellation policy will apply:


  • Participants must send their cancellation in written form to the International & European Studies Program (by email, post or fax).
  • Cancellations received by 14 August 2018 will incur a charge of 30% of the program fee.
  • Cancellations received between 15 August and 31 August 2018 will incur a charge of 50% of the program fee.
  • If you cancel between 1 September 2018 and after the start of the program, no part of the fee will be reimbursed. 


In the case of cancellation of the Fall Program due to a lack of participants the International & European Studies Program will reimburse the complete amount of money paid by the participant, but will have no further liability to the participant. The International & European Studies Program does not cover any other costs of the participants, such as travel bookings, visa fees etc. If the International & European Studies Program has to cancel a course or an excursion for any reason beyond its control, it will not be held liable.
