Curriculum vitae
Günther Jung studied Chemistry (degree: Diplom-Chemiker) at the
Eberhard-Karls-University of Tübingen (1959-1965) and received his
doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat. in Organic Chemistry) in 1967. In 1967/1968
he was Assistant Professor at the University Houston, Texas. In 1971, after
his "habilitation" in the field of Chemistry of Natural Products,
he received a "teaching permission" for Organic Chemistry and
Biochemistry, and since 1973 a permanent professorship at the Institute
of Organic Chemistry at the University of Tübingen. He declined several
calls to other instutes and build up one of the most recognised research
group for peptide and bioorganic chemistry.
He was also Head of the Biochemistry Department at the Naturwissenschaftlich-Medizinischem
Institut, University of Tübingen (1992-1996) and he is presently Head
of the Steinbeis-Transferzentrum
"Bioorganic
Chemistry", University of Tübingen (since 1996).
He is cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer of EMC
microcollections GmbH since 1996, and Director of Chemistry
of CureVac GmbH
(since 2001).
