Seeking of medical help [h after onset] determines how many hours after onset of symptoms on average a case seeks medical help. Please note that individuals with asymptomatic infection and moderatly sick cases do not seek medical help in the model. These do not appear as "outpatients" and do not receive antiviral treatment. The waiting time between onset of symptoms and seeking medical help is exponentially distributed (i.e. modelled in only one stage) and has the mean value which given by this parameter.

Treatment possible until [h after onset] determines up to what time since onset of symptoms antiviral drugs can be given. To make the decision for or against treatment of a case, the program uses the stages of disease.

Parameter settings

We are not aware of published values for the parameter Seeking of medical help [h after onset]. As this parameter may also depend strongly on the modelled population, the pre-set value may only partly reflect reality.
