Silver, Christopher: "Renkioi: Brunel´s forgotten Crimean War Hospital"
The book tells the story of the British hospital designed and pre-fabricated by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and built at Erenköy (modern Güzelyali) during the Crimean War.  It was unique at the time in being a military hospital run entirely by civilian doctors, and the chief medical officer, Edmund Parkes, went on to become one of the most important figures in military medicine of the Nineteeth Century.  A few traces of the hospital remain today and may be considered a part of the archaeology of the Troad.  It was the engineer who built the hospital, John Brunton, who undertook the first excavations at Hisarlik, and Silver has unearthed interesting new information about his work in a previously unnoticed account by William Eassie.  The staff at the hospital took considerable interest in the archaeology of the Troad, and Chapter 9, "Renkioi and the Classical World", is an addition to what was known of the archaeological activities of Europeans in the region. (Sevenoaks UK, Valonia Press, 2007., ISBN 978-0-9557 105-0-6)

 - "HOMER VERSTEHEN" is the title of a new book by Brigitte and Dietrich Mannsperger. Since the new excavations at Troia public interest is refocused on Homer. The authors, both longterm members of the Troia-team, provide an introduction to the epics <Iliad> and <Odyssee> for the reader of the 21st c.Oriented towards a modern scenario and factual topics with newly translated text-quotations they provide access to a famous but rarely read poetry. (Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft Darmstadt 2006. 216 S. mit 4 Abb., ISBN-10: 3-534172736).

NEW RELEASE :
March 15, 2004 a new book by  Birgit Brandau, Hartmut Schickert, Peter Jablonka " TROIA - wie es wirklich aussah" ( Piper Verlag, ISBN 3-492-04610-x) was released for sale.
The first two authors are thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the Troia Project since many years, the third is a longtime Troia-excavator and responsible for the special Troia-VR project.
Lavishly illustrated and solidly narrated : a fascinating time travel through the variations in the history of the legendary city that attracted generations of scientists.

For the first time Troia has been reconstructed based on the latest scientific results. Modern computersimulation provides images of imposing quality for each historic building phase. Recent photographs of today´s ruins are contrasted with exactly matching computer images. The narrative tells the history of the various epochs from the onset of settlement through the Troia of "Priam´s Treasure" and Homer´s time to the Roman empire.
