Habitate and Substrate:
Subboreal to temperate coniferes forests, on rotten wood: e.g. Pinus.
Biogeography:
Hitherto only found in Scandinavia and the Caucasus Mountains .
Remarks:
Of H. halonata are only the following specimens known. The illustrated material from the Caucasus Mountains is well developed and does not deviate from the holotype.
Within the genus Hyphodontia only five species have cystidia constricted like a string of pearls (moniliforme cystidia). 3% Phloxin solution dyes them more than the surroundind hyphae:
