Deutsch-Tschechische Kooperation: die Zusammenarbeit des Regierungsbezirks Tübingen, des Landkreises Reutlingen und der Region Pardubice

The Pardubice Region, situated in the eastern Bohemia, is one of the 14 self-governed Czech regions created in 2000. In 2002 the new Pardubice authority asked the president of the administrative region of Tübingen for a cooperation covering a wide range of subjects. This offer traces back to the already existing twinning between the districts of Reutlingen and Chrudim, a town within the Pardubice Region and seat of the former district of Chrudim, abolished by the Czech Government in 2000 in favour of the new autonomous regions. In March 2002 the heads of the three authorities signed a written declaration about the cooperation between the regions of Pardubice and Tübingen and the district of Reutlingen. Areas of interest are regional and economic development, the implementation of the European Structural Funds, tourism, transport, infrastructure, agriculture and environment but also exchange in the field of school, sport and culture. In view of the close accession to the European Union not only the future member states but also the regions prepare themselves to hit the European standard and benefit from the new possibilities.
