S.I.P Survival Guide.by John Gross, Stephanie Häußler, Elizabeth Layton, and Bryce WardSo where the heck are you going? Tübingen is a university-town of approximately 70,000 (some 26,000 of whom are students), situated on the Neckar River 40 km south of Stuttgart in the German federal-state if Baden-Württemburg. If any town in the world can claim the title of university town - it is Tübingen. As is evident from the population statistics, the universtiy constitutes a very large portion of the town and has since its founding in 1477. A good illustration of the dominant position of the university is the often repeated comment regarding Tübingen, "there is a town on their university." This statement is really not all that far from the truth as the "campusless" university literally stretches all over town. Tübingen is more then just a universtiy; simply strolling through
the Altstadt, or passsing a few hours in abn outdoor cafe on the Marktplatz
should erase that perception. Tübingen really is a nice place.
You have made a wise choice in chooosing to join such notables as Hegel,
Hölderlin, Kepler, and Hesse in choosing to pass a part of your life in
Universitätstadt Tübingen.
