IEHA Archives

The move of the IEHA office to the International Institute for Social History in Amsterdam has created facilities for the creation of IEHA Archives. The Secretary-General has written to the association's honorary presidents and former secretaries-general and asked them whether they had documents pertaining to the history of the association from its establishment to the the present.

Databases

Within the IEHA there has been an ongoing discussion of its role in the field of the collection of historical statistics and databases. The executive committee of the IEHA intends to foster the organization of central 'hubs' at which data bases of economic-historical statistics can be collected and made accessible for international-comparative research. Jan Luiten van Zanden is currently working on the establishment of a world wide infrastructure for economic-history research. Details of this project 'Towards a world wide infrastructure for economic-historical research?' can be found here and in Memo on 'Towards a world wide infrastructure for economic-historical research?'. The memo has been approved by the Executive Committee in May 2003.
