International @ the Faculty of Science
The internationality of the Faculty of Science is reflected by numerous international research projects as well as by the high number of guest researchers and by intensive student exchange. All departments collaborate on international level. Individual cooperations are built up with universities and other research institutions worldwide.
The progressive internationalisation of the Faculty of Science is a development with benefits for everyone involved.
Internationalization of Research
One of the Faculty of Science’s priorities lies in providing the ideal conditions for scientists to conduct cutting-edge research. To stay successful and competitive in international research, the Faculty of Science constantly develops new international partnerships (faculty-led & partner-led programs as well as departmental programs). In particular, the high number of high-tech research facilities (interfaculty institutes and centers, “Core Facilities”) demonstrate the Faculty of Science’s international potential and visibility.
Furthermore, numerous collaborative projects as well as scientific exchanges with locally based internationally renowned research facilities and companies form the prerequisite for innovative and forward-thinking research conducted on the highest level. The Faculty of Science, thus, provides the ideal framework to respond responsibly to today’s complex scientific and societal challenges of the ever-changing world or research.
Internationalization of Higher Education
The Faculty of Science distinguishes itself by its innovative and interdisciplinary approach to teaching. By offering innovative international and multilingual Master’s and Doctoral degree programs, domestic and international graduate and PhD students benefit from the Faculty of Science’s internationally oriented curriculum for higher education. The newly established international graduate programs (Master of Science degree programs) are highly research-focused, and offer their students a hands-on research experience. At the same time, visiting scholars from abroad enrich the Faculty of Science’s curriculum for higher education.
The various international and subject-specific exchange programs provide the Faculty of Science’s students with the opportunity of gaining international experience, which inevitably improves intercultural competence and strengthens the awareness of personal social responsibility. This in addition to solid academic training lays the foundation for the advancement of successful young scientists, but it also promotes forward-thinking and cutting-edge research on an international scale.
