Values
We are dedicated to upholding our shared European values. The diversity of our students and staff is our strength, regardless of where in the world they have come from. We advocate the positive development of society and peaceful coexistence, sustainable development of the economy and protection of the environment. The internationalization of research and teaching is important to us.
Equal opportunities
We want to have more female professors and more women in leadership positions. So we help female academics with career planning and create favorable conditions for women at our university.
Gender equality office
We offer advice on equal opportunities, we assist with appointment procedures and manage funding measures for women.
Athene program
With the Athene program we encourage women on their path to an academic career – with scholarships, mentoring, coaching and networking opportunities.
Good management guidelines
Good management and constructive cooperation are the basis for excellent results. With our good management guidelines we are continuing on our path to intensify a culture of cooperation and commitment.
Managers should take it in their stride that there are people with very different backgrounds at the university. For me this means: being appreciative and respectful.
Diversity
Diversity is the basis of our excellence. We endeavor to create a diverse university culture, where you can realize your potential regardless of your gender, ethnic origin, age, social or religious background, disability or sexual orientation.
Diversity Office
The Diversity Office is the first port of call for all issues in relation to diversity. We can advise and support you if you encounter disadvantages and discrimination at work.
The diversity audit
We have received the “Vielfalt gestalten” diversity audit certificate from the donors’ association. This recognizes that we are committed to sustainable diversity management for our students and staff.
Sustainability
Protecting the climate and the environment concerns all of us. We at the university also play our part and take our responsibility to society and future generations seriously.
Climate and environmental protection
All our energy is green – from hydropower; we are steadily reducing our consumption of water and paper, and we are optimizing our heating, ventilation and lighting systems.
EMAS Eco-Management and Audit Scheme
We were the first Baden-Württemberg university to receive the EMAS certificate, back in 2011. The EU’s environmental management hallmark recognizes our ongoing improvement in environmental performance.
Internationalism
The internationalization of our university is important to us. We are networked with research and exchange partners all around the world. Discover our international profile.
Partnerships
As a globally networked research university, we have strong relationships with a number of international partner universities.
