Prof. Dr. Augustin Kelava

Augustin Kelava is professor of Educational Science at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology. In his research he focuses on:

  • Quantitative research methods (non-linear latent variable modelling, semi- and non-parametric methods)
  • Competence modelling for engineering students
  • Coherence of psychophysiological signals and emotion regulation

Research interests

Latent variable models

  • nonlinear structural equation models
    • estimation methods of nonlinear effects
    • semi- and non-parametric latent variable models

  • latent mixture models
  • nonlinear multilevel models
  • IRT models

Competence diagnosis / competency modelling

  • generic and subject-specific competencies of students of technical subjects
  • diagnosis of cognitive subprocesses

Emotion regulation

  • coherence of psychophysiological measures of emotion regulation
  • Intra- und interindividual differences in the regulation of positive emotions
