Uni-Tübingen

Is bicycle leasing (“JobBike”) possible at the university?

There is a difference here between civil servants and salaried employees:

Civil servants

Since October 2020, all civil servants in the state of Baden-Württemberg have been eligible for bicycle leasing. The state can regulate such matters via the Landesbesoldungsgesetz (state payscale law). Further information is available at the website JobBike BW of the Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg.

Salaried employees

Since January 2023, the ‘Tarifvertrag zur Entgeltumwandlung zum Zwecke des Leasings von Fahrrädern für den Bereich des Arbeitgeberverbandes des öffentlichen Dienstes des Landes Baden-Württemberg’ (collective agreement on salary exchange for the purpose of leasing bicycles for the area of the public sector employers’ association of the state of Baden-Württemberg, TV Radleasing BW; in German only), has been in effect. Pursuant to this agreement, salaried employees are eligible to lease bicycles. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to enter into leasing contracts, as the state must first carry out a Europe-wide call for tenders for the service (cf. LBV: https://lbv.landbw.de/-/jobbike-bw-für-tarifbeschäftigte, in German only).
