Intelligent language assistant for learning English in everyday situations (Aisla)

Hector Institute for Empirical Educational Research

The Aisla project aims to provide English learners with a mobile app that allows them to practice English in real-life scenarios. The app identifies the learner's current scenario (e.g. restaurant) and suggests appropriate learning tasks, such as ordering food. Aisla acts as a conversation partner and provides feedback on language errors during the interaction, provides materials and is based on state-of-the-art language processing and AI technology as well as research findings on second language acquisition.

The innovation is that learners are given unlimited opportunities to practise English in different everyday situations, making language learning more attractive.
