On Research Leave in Chawton (Hampshire)

Lisa Ebert, one of our associated RTG members, spent a four-week research leave in Chawton (Hampshire/UK) and London from March 3 until March 30, 2017 in order to advance her current research. During her stay at the Chawton House Library and the British Library, Lisa Ebert examined several 18th and 19th century sources dealing with the topics of perception and problems of perception. Additionally, she expanded her text corpus in the research area of “Gothic Novels” as part of her work on the ambiguity of genre in Wuthering Heights and she explored the material of the Yablon Brontë Collection concerning the reception of Emily Brontë’s works.
