Research data management planning

We support research projects and working groups in planning research data management (FDM), especially during the application phase, by developing data management plans and customized FDM concepts. A well-designed FDM concept tailored to the research project is crucial to ensure sustainability, accessibility and reusability of research data. As these aspects become increasingly important to research funders, they can significantly influence the chances of success of project proposals. Many funding bodies, such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), now require detailed information on the handling of research data to be included in the application. Our support will help you meet the specific requirements of your discipline and the respective funding line.

Contact the Digital Humanities Center (DH-Center) consulting team to discuss options for support with your research data management.

How does the planning process work?

  • Initial consultation: During the initial consultation, we discuss your project proposal and determine the requirements for research data management.
  • Concept development: We then jointly develop an FDM concept that both meets the funding agency requirements and serves the project goals. This typically includes research data characterization, storage, collaboration, publication, privacy, data collection, long-term archiving, and team responsibilities.
  • Text modules: Based on the concept, we provide text modules for integration into the proposal text.
  • Data management plan: If necessary, we jointly develop an initial data management plan that is updated during the project.
  • Implementation involvement: Depending on the complexity of the concept or project proposal, the DH Center can participate in or take responsibility for the implementation of FDM in the project (for example, through data stewards) and provide or develop appropriate software.

Why should you trust us?

  • DFG Research Grants
  • DFG Collaborative Research Centers
  • DFG Priority Programs
  • DFG Research Groups
  • DFG long-term projects
  • Clusters of Excellence
  • NFDI consortia
  • ERC Grants
  • Calls for proposals of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation
  • RiSC funding
  • BMBF calls for proposals
  • MWK calls for proposals
