Kern group: Nanotechnology & Nanostructures
The experimental research group of Dieter Kern has extensive experience in micro- and nano-technology, especially in the fabrication and characterization of semiconductor and metal structures. Current topics of research interest are catalyst structuring and alignment of carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) for electronic applications, large-scale structuring of biotemplate surfaces as well as quantum transport in miniaturized silicon devices and the investigation of metallic nanostructures for nano-optics/plasmonics. Dieter Kern is a Honorary Member of the Core Facility LISA+.
Close cooperation exists with the research groups Chassé (Raman spectroscopy, resists), Meixner/Zhang (plasmonics, optical antennas), Fortágh (interaction atoms / CNTs) and Kleiner/Kölle (superconducting films).
