Language and Culture

German Language Courses

The T-IES programs include up to three parallel German language courses on the proficiency levels A1-B2. Participation in the German language course is compulsory.

The level of the language courses will depend on student's needs. Each course will be taught by qualified instructors of the Department of German as a Foreign Language and Intercultural Programs.

Through an intercultural and communicative approach students will be actively involved in class to encourage language learning. The focus will be on speaking and listening to improve students' language competence in everyday situations.

Intercultural Competence

You will gain one of the key qualifications in an increasingly globalized world: Intercultural competence. In a workshop you will reflect on culture in general and your intercultural experience in Germany. Questions addressed in the workshop will be: What is culture? What are stereotypes? What is an identity and which role do values and behaviors play? You will change perspectives and gain both theoretical as well as practical intercultural experiences. Studying in a diverse, multicultural group will further foster your knowledge about other cultures.
