Implementation of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management

The implementation of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management is organized in nine subprojects. These are presented below. Click on the heading to learn more about a subproject.

Subproject I: Creation of a training matrix

Objective:
  • Overview of continuing training opportunities on the aspects of good leadership addressed in the guidelines.
  • Basis for training advice
Approach:
  • Survey among all internal training providers at the university.
  • Creating systematization and transparency

Subproject II: Integration of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management into existing training seminars and programs

Objective:
  • Promote reflection on leadership behavior in terms of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management.
Approach:
  • Internal and external trainers as well as internal training providers integrate the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management into corresponding curricula, offers, etc.

Subproject III: Guideline workshops for leadership teams

Objective:
  • Communicate intentions and expectations of the President's Office.
  • Reflection of the guidelines as well as their individual implementation
  • Preparation of the implementation in the respective areas
Approach:
  • 3-hour interactive workshops for leadership teams in Q3 and Q4 2022

Subproject IV: Guideline workshops for leaders

Objective:
  • Every leader considers the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management and how to implement them.
Approach:
  • Offering and conducting 4-hour interactive workshops.

Subproject V: Design of a new leadership development program

Objective:
  • New leaders work specifically on their own leadership skills in an ongoing training series.
Approach:
  • Participatory development of the contents
  • Design of the training modules with integration of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management
  • Piloting

Subproject VI: Integration of the guidelines in appointment procedures

Objective:
  • Newly appointed professors know and practice University of Tübingen’s understanding of leadership.
Approach:
  • Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management are addressed in appointment interviews (so-called „Berufungsgespräche“).
  • Consideration of leadership skills as a criteria for appointments.

 

Subproject VII: Peer consulting formats for experienced leaders

Objective:
  • By sharing experiences and taking different perspectives, leaders expand their range of good management behaviour and adopt the guidelines as part of their leadership practice.
Approach:
  • Continuing existing peer consulting groups
  • Establishing and supporting new groups

Subproject VIII: Retrospectives of a representative resonance group of representatives from the academic and academic support areas

Objective:
  • Talk about achievements
  • Identify need for action and develop suggestions for improvement
Approach:
  • Reflection on process by a representative resonance group.
  • Quarterly meetings for 2 hours
  • Reporting to the university management

Subproject IX: Ongoing communication campaign

Objective:
  • Embedding the topic of "leadership" and the guidelines in everyday university life.
Approach:
  • Provide continuous inspiration for exchange
  • Brief information on activities, the process status and content-related aspects
  • Integration of the Guidelines for Leadership and Good Management in the onboarding programs
