Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg for LEAD Co-Director Ulrike Cress

On April 19, 2024, Minister President Winfried Kretschmann awarded 22 personalities with the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg for outstanding services to the state and its people. Among those honoured was LEAD Co-Director Ulrike Cress, who was recognised for her excellent research work.

The statement on the award

Professor Dr Ulrike Cress teaches in the Department of Psychology at the University of Tübingen and is Director of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien. Her research is fundamental to the knowledge society in all areas where learning and teaching take place and where information is communicated. The results of her research into how digital media or AI influence knowledge and communication processes form the basis for very specific applications and improvements in practice. She also shares her knowledge for the benefit of the general public: on the board of the Deutsche Telekom Foundation, on the Standing Scientific Commission on Education Policy of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the states, at the German UNESCO Commission and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Literature Archive in Marbach. She leads the discourse on relevant future topics, is internationally networked and has an outstanding influence on Baden-Württemberg as a centre of science and the research landscape in Tübingen.
