|History of the CSU International Program in Germany|
The California State University (CSU) International Program in Germany began in 1974, when the Universität Heidelberg hosted approximately 25 CSU students.
In 1992 an official "Agreement for Academic Cooperation" was signed between the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg and the Chancellor of the California State University System. The program then expanded to include all of the Baden-Württemberg institutions and subsequently moved its program office to the Universität Tübingen, where it still resides today. The Tübingen office works closely together with the CSU International Programs Office in Long Beach California to insure a successful academic exchange.
Today the Tübingen office facilitates a year long academic exchange of approximately 40-60 students. The program offers CSU students a unique chance to learn German in Germany at one of the 18 participating institutions of higher education within Baden-Württemberg. In exchange, German students have the opportunity to study at one of the 23 California State University campuses.
