Science Notes is a series of science communication events. The events bring science to clubs and concert halls throughout Germany. Each evening is dedicated to a current topic at the interface of science and society, such as climate change, the food of the future or artificial intelligence. Outstanding researchers, authors and artists take to the stage to provide insights into their work in short, 15-minute readings and presentations. Live electronic acts and visuals complete the event. Narrativization, personalization as well as techniques of comprehensibility, vividness and engagement are important communicative elements.

The accompanying experimental Science Notes magazine is published twice a year and is available nationwide in station bookshops and online. Together with authors, photographers and artists, the magazine sheds light on a topic at the interface of knowledge and society. It is not just about studies and results, but also about people and backgrounds. How does research work? What drives scientists? Stories are intended to make science understandable and tangible. Each issue is designed according to the topic.

The project is scientifically supported by dissertations, conferences and publications. The focus is on rhetorical approaches to the topics of science communication and science journalism, in particular with regard to design, visual communication, social media and experimental journalistic formats. The Science Notes are made possible by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
