Meyer Group: Advanced Materials

Jannik Meyer was appointed to a professorship for Advanced Materials in the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the winter semester 2018. The professorship is designed as a bridge professorship between the University of Tübingen and the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute (NMI) in Reutlingen. Jannik Meyer will focus on investigating the structures and properties of novel materials, in particular two-dimensional materials such as graphene, a two-dimensional carbon compound. Many of these materials have special electronic, mechanical or optical properties and are, for example, very tear-resistant or extremely conductive. This makes them interesting for many applications, such as batteries, displays or materials in medical technology.
